So where do I start?
I started documenting my craft beer chronicles for the first time back in March of 2017. Since then, I have tried hundreds of different beers from just about every style available. What I can say without a shadow of doubt is that I have never had anything like Modern Times Monsters' Park, Mexican Chocolate Edition Special Release. My first beer from the brewery based out of San Diego California.
I was fortunate enough to be in the right place at the right time when my boy Ray met with some buddies to trade beer and pop a few bottles. This particular bottle was second on the list. The first thing I noticed was the spice, which told me I was in for a wild ride. I don't claim to be a beer expert with the most advanced palate but it was not necessary to pick out the flavor profiles in this bottle of yummy deliciousness. The spice came from chilis and cinnamon. The overall smoothness came from vanilla and the barrel aging process. I could go on an on about the flavors but to make a long story short, this was by far the best and most unique beer I have ever tasted.
I found myself researching every ingredient on the label to try and figure out how the brewmasters were able to craft such a wonderful beverage. Modern Times receives quite a bit of fanfare in the craft beer community and I now know why. If you see this beer but it and drink it.
